I Actually Thought About NOT Posting This...

Because it's a picture of our new favorite beach on Maui. We "discovered" it on our last trip...well, were led to it by sis, LOL. SHE discovered it! Really, first person ever. haha.

This particular beach is on the west end. Perfection is found in not only it's proximity to where we usually stay, but also in the amazing things to see here.

You can snorkel and see TONS of fish and stuff a mere 10 yards off the beach. And, if you want to, you can swim out farther and see turtles and other bigger stuff.

Cool, huh?

Maybe next time, I'll tell what the name of the place is... ;)

Yeah, but is it a "Jellyfish Bad" Day?

Hi All.

I got this from a friend via email today...one of the funniest things I've ever read...and helps give you some perspective too!

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *
I LOVE MY JOB

If you don't laugh out loud after you read this you are in a coma! This is even funnier when you realize it's real! Next time you have a bad day at work think of this guy.

Rob is a commercial saturation diver for Global Divers in Louisiana. He performs underwater repairs on offshore drilling rigs. Below is an E-mail he sent to his sister. She then sent it to radio station 103.2 FM in Ft. Wayne, Indiana, who was sponsoring a worst job experience contest. Needless to say, she won.

Hi Sue,

Just another note from your bottom-dwelling brother.

Last week I had a bad day at the office. I know you've been feeling down lately at work, so I thought I would share my dilemma with you to make you realize it's not so bad after all

Before I can tell you what happened to me, I first must bore you with a few technicalities of my job.

As you know, my office lies at the bottom of the sea. I wear a suit to the office. It's a wet suit. This time of year the water is quite cool.

So what we do to keep warm is this: We have a diesel powered industrial water heater. This $20,000 piece of equipment sucks the water out of the sea. It heats it to a delightful temperature.

It then pumps it down to the diver through a garden hose, which is taped to the air hose.

Now this sounds like a darn good plan, and I've used it several times with no complaints.

What I do, when I get to the bottom and start working, is take the hose and stuff it down the back of my wet suit. This floods my whole suit with warm water. It's like working in a Jacuzzi.

Everything was going well until all of a sudden, my butt started to itch. So, of course, I scratched it. This only made things worse. With in a few seconds my butt started to burn.  I pulled the hose out from my back, but the damage was done. In agony I realized what had happened.

The hot water machine had sucked up a jellyfish and pumped it into my suit. Now, since I don't have any hair on my back, the jellyfish couldn't stick to it. However, the crack of my butt was not as fortunate.

When I scratched what I thought was an itch, I was actually grinding the jellyfish into the crack of my butt.

I informed the dive supervisor of my dilemma over the communicator. His instructions were unclear due to the fact that he, along with five other divers, were all laughing hysterically.

Needless to say I aborted the dive. I was instructed to make three agonizing in-water decompression stops totaling thirty-five minutes before I could reach the surface to begin my chamber dry decompression.

When I arrived at the surface, I was wearing nothing but my brass helmet. As I climbed out of the water, the medic, with tears of laughter running down his face, handed me a tube of cream and told me to rub it on my butt as soon as I got in the chamber.

The cream put the fire out, but I couldn't poop for two days because my butt was swollen shut.

So, next time you're having a bad day at work, think about how much worse it would be if you had a jellyfish shoved up your butt.

Now repeat to yourself, 'I love my job, I love my job, I love my job.'

Now whenever you have a bad day, ask yourself, is this a jellyfish bad day?

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

I
Cannot
Breathe :D

LOLOLOLOLOL

Next time you have a bad day, think about it... ;)

EEEEKKKK!, Oh, haha...

been there, done that...

Happy Bunny..

This little guy can be kinda cruel, or rude, or downright hilarious in an evil little way... :) But i LOVE HIM!

I mean...come onnnnnn! He's just saying what we all would like to from time to time. At the very least, we've all thought similar things...

And since, at this point, I am so tired of dingbats and idiots that have nothing better to do than to try to make other people as miserable as they are, I embrace the bare and gritty truthfulness of it all.

I just wanna board up the doors and keep 'em all "out there" wherever the hell that is - I'm not sure, but as long as they are far away from me, it's all good. And I'd have a "persuader" available to keep them wherever the hell they need to be to not be in my little cocoon of "no meanies allowed".

I'm tired today...sick of things that don't matter but have to be dealt with. I don't want to do it anymore...being a grown up sucks.

Just sayin'

It Made My Eyes Hurt..

I think that the GWB/Matrix thing is kinda funny, but frankly, it made my eyes hurt to look at it when browsing past the blog.

So....I'm posting again to move it down the page a bit.

I KNOW! BRILLIANT IDEA!

It's true.

Most people wouldn't have thought of it, but Magic did. I'm just that way...brilliant and fond of talking in the third person.

Things are fairly busy these days. Been doing a lot of pro bono work - which is fulfilling, but not particularly lucrative :)

So...have a good day...enjoy the rain. Might as well, it's not going anywhere.

;)

Just sayin'

UPDATED MARCH 26: Moved "W and the Matrix" to the "other" blog. Click here to see the post I moved. ;) It really belongs over there instead...

In Celebration of Jessica

Birthday dinners are an important thing around our family.

More important than holidays really, because birthdays are little celebrations of the person who we've been blessed with in our lives.

Some of those among us don't yet embrace that ideology, but we are getting there I think as age brings wisdom ;)

So, today we gather for dinner to celebrate Jessica and her entrance into our lives (A few years ago on March 16). It's been a pleasure watching her grow up and become the young woman that she is. And now, she's someone's mother...amazing how time flies when looking back at the children in our lives. I don't feel any older (most days, anyway, LOL), so why do they keep aging?

Happy Birthday Jessica Marie! Love you lots!

How Are Your Eyes?

Does this make your eyes hurt when you stare at it for a few seconds? It kinda makes me woozy...LOL

I was surfin' around and found this on one of the sites I frequent from time to time...

These days we are getting ready to go to Maui for a few weeks next month. Gotta get all our gear organized and stowed. We get three bags each on the airplane, so we don't have to be too conservative. But just because we can, doesn't mean we should, lol.

So...Seattle is cold but the sunshine is out...thinking about taking the roadster out for a spin this afternoon. It has heated seats, so no problems!

Enjoy your day...wherever you are!

Blustery Sunset

OK, so it's not art by any means, but here's a pic of the sunset (over downtown Seattle) from a parking lot in Bellevue.

Fiery sky...pretty neat, huh?

The Fruits of our Labor

Last night, Randy, Sophie, Rob, Josh and Magic went out in the blustery night and learned to make sushi rolls.

The class was a lot of fun - and we learned what we went there to learn.

How to roll our own...sushi.

Sophie was the most excited of us all, and in typical Sophie fashion, her sushi rolls looked the best. The rest of us did fine too, but you know what your grandma says- they all taste the same no matter what they look like...lol.

It really isn't hard once you get the basics down and learn the tricks. And it's a lot of fun too. The biggest thing I took away from the class was the confidence to just do sushi at home. There isn't really any mystery to it. I also have the confidence to put just about anything I darn well want into a roll.

Want to put raw fish in there? OK - make sure it's good fish, but go ahead.
How about just veggies? Sure, no prob.
Hotdogs? Well...okay...if that makes you happy.

It doesn't really matter what you want to put in there as long as you want to eat it. And it can be a lot of fun on a social level to hang around with your friends, trying not to get covered in sticky rice, making your own rolls. I think that we all had a really good time - we sure laughed a lot - and isn't that point really? Getting together with the people you love, sharing your time and a meal, talking and laughing?

I think so...

If it's Tuesday, it must be Sushi

Tonight, a group of us is going to learn to roll sushi. It was actually my nephew's idea, and he put together a group of us to all go and learn together. I'm a little concerned about how it will all turn out - especially the part where we have to taste what we've made - but I'm thinking it'll be fun too. I suppose it doesn't have to be pretty to taste good...LOL.

Goofy isn't going. But you know that already.

In general, I like sushi, so learning to roll some of it myself seems like a good idea. At least the ones that are not too complicated and stuff. My sushi tastes lean toward uncomplicated anyway, so I think it'll be fun.

My favorite by far is the spicy tuna roll. Pedestrian by most standards, I'm sure, but I like it. We don't learn that one until class number two though, so we'll see.

I'm a relative newcomer to sushi. Didn't try it until sometime just after another nephew's wedding. I think we were waiting to go try it with someone more knowledgeable than we were - and once we did...yum.

I still do not like the idea of eel or octopus really. I see them diving, and it just seems icky. I've tried them both, and they are ok, but still...eww.

So...off to the sushi academy tonight...woohoo!

Monday was Mondayesque

Today I was busy as hell, and got not a lot of things actually done.

Every have one of those days?

I worked a lot, got a lot of things started, but very little actually done/finished/accomplished.

I kinda feel cheated.

Did so much and have so relatively little to show for it.

Well...except the messes I've left with incomplete/waiting for input projects that I need one more part, or piece or data point to finish. Too close to done to put entirely away, and yet not complete enough to call good.

I am grateful for the darkness in the den, and the relative invisibility of my efforts from the door. Once you get around to my side of the room, though, all bets are off.

So...tomorrow I try again...hoping I have something tangible to show for my efforts at the end of the day...

It's good to be optimistic ... lol.

Just sayin'

Yay! New Month, New Perspective?

It's March already...hard to believe in some ways - not so much in others I guess.

It's still a little tired here at our place. Got a lot done yesterday, but mostly that was Goofy and Jim.

I'm tired mostly from being sick and tired (lol). But today, I've decided to forget about being tired and just get on with things.

It could also be the fact that we are heading back home to Maui the end of April - for my birthday ostensibly, but I don't care a ton about the motivation, just so long as there is diving involved. :D

And there will be diving...and visiting with friends both south and west.

Perhaps that is the reason for my elevated mood and disposition.

Who knows?

All I know is that I'm tired of being tired and I'm sick of being sick.

A new month, a new leaf, eh?

Just sayin'
